Skin tags are common benign skin growths that frequently develop on the neck, underarms, eyelids, groin, and other areas where skin rubs together.
Although skin tags are usually harmless, many patients choose to have them removed because they become irritated, catch on clothing or jewelry, or are cosmetically bothersome.
Depending upon their size and location, many skin tags can be removed safely during an office visit.
Ellen Pearson, FNP-C, performs removal of many uncomplicated skin tags in the office. More complex lesions or those raising concern for skin cancer may be referred to dermatology.
